Cardcaptor Sakura: The Fate

I decided to take a shot at drawing Cardcaptor Sakura. This is basically the idea that there's a card that appears to be an echo of Yuko from xxxHolic & it has the power to pull on the red string of fate. The staff is a combination of the new wand from Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card & the enhanced wand she used to convert the Dark & the Light cards.
Her outfit is inspired by Ruby Moon's look with hints of Spinel Sun & Sakura from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle. The main theme of her outfit is a large black butterfly which can be seen on her torso.
The two arms in the foreground represent not only Moro & Maru from xxxHolic but also both black & white Mokona. The two hands in the background have the symbol that was on the feathers in Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle.
I also wanted to include the disembodied hands because it's a reference to the hands Watanuki faced in xxxHolic.
The butterfly on Yuko's chest is based on the eye symbol she has on her shoulders when she's wearing her black & white dress. So I altered it to be a butterfly because of Yuko's affinity for butterflies & because of the butterfly effect of changing your fate.

English Course Flyer

Finished a new flyer for an English professor. The course information is not included on this version because this is just for posting as an example.
The only guidelines I was given was to make the course title look like a neon sign & green is the preferred color. The tiger is a reference to a story the class will cover & the palette for it was based on a picture of a spray painted tiger that I found interesting.

xxxHolic

This picture was a real labor of love for me. I recently watched all of xxxHolic & felt inspired to draw Watanuki & Yuuko. Of course I decided to add Mokona because it felt wrong to exclude him.

Yuuko: I took inspiration based on an accent design from an outfit Yuuko wears in an image I found on google then spun that out into this original outfit. Her neckpiece is actually a reference to Spinel Sun from Cardcaptor Sakura which felt appropriate considering Yuuko's ties to Clow Reed & Sakura.

Watanuki: His outfit is more of an original idea I toyed with that compliments Yuuko's outfit. I knew I wanted a lotus to be incorporated somewhere as a reference to a character of mine. Watanuki has a butterfly design around his neck to reference Ruby Moon from Cardcaptor Sakura to tie with Yuuko's Spinel Sun reference.

The Lamp: The genie lamp is a reference to the Hanuman Hammer lamp I designed for a Fire Jinn character. This is also why there is red smoke coming out of the lamp to reference the Jinn while also referencing the red string of fate. When you follow the smoke it leads to the "Om" symbol on a chunk of ice which is a reference to my Frost Giant Ram design who connects back to the Fire Jinn. I wanted to add these easter eggs because xxxHolic had many callbacks in Yuuko's shop to other Clamp series.

A Flyer Postcard

Trying my hand at graphic design. The "MGP Painting Color perfected every time" & the check marks are the only things supplied to me. They were from the company's website. The little phone symbol was something I replicated based on the graphic on their site. Since a website is the face of most companies I thought it would be good to have the flyer reflect that.

I tried to keep the color scheme confined to the colors of the company's logo because any more colors would be a distraction. There's also a faint blue for the background so that the white text would stand out more.

Just A Fun 5 Minute Edit

Let me be clear: I DID NOT DRAW THESE PICTURES. 

 So a friend of mine wanted a palette change for a Valentine's day text. Which is a fun 5 minute task that I thought I'd share. Due to pixelation I did have to redraw some line work because this was not a case of just using the fill bucket.

Frost Giant Archer Rama

Frost Giant Archer Rama: Loosely based on Lord Rama which is why this character wields a bow & arrow, has blue skin, & lotus designs on his chest to reference the lotus necklace Rama is shown wearing. The belt is also a reference to Ram's normal outfit. The rest was based on a frost giant idea which is why his skin looks like it's not quite skin & more like ice. There is also a large hole in his chest because his heart was removed for safekeeping.

Fire Jinn Hanuman Concept

Fire Jinn Hanuman Concept: This is a character design influenced by Hanuman which includes her facial markings, tail, & the lamp is inspired by Hanuman’s hammer. Her tail is made of fire because she’s a Fire Jinn & this human form is basically a costume. The necklace she wears is also loosely based on a green jeweled necklace Hanuman wore in one of his depictions.

A Fun Exercise: Imagine Dragons- Believer (Adobe Make the Cut)

This was a video I made for the Imagine Dragons' Believer: Adobe Make the Cut contest. I didn't get to submit it because I missed the 12am cutoff by like 10 minutes. I spent less than 24hrs on this since I didn't know about the contest until a couple days before the deadline. But I decided to attempt making a video & had fun using Adobe Premiere Pro which I haven't really used before. 

All the rights to this video belong to Imagine Dragons/Interscope Records.

Did some clean up work for a client:

a) This is the original image that was not designed by me, but had issues with being pixelated & could not be resized.

b) I spent some time & redrew the image from scratch at a much larger scale to avoid that awful pixelation issue.

Nostalgia: Rayzer Cat? Dragon Angel?

 I'm pretty sure my Digimon obsession was in full swing when I drew this guy as a kid because this design is clearly inspired by Angemon. Now I'm thinking it's Angemon + Wolverine + Gargoyles? With the redrawn update of 'Rayzer Cat' I tried to move him away from Angemon's design into a less copyright infringing version.

Nostalgia: Sorceress Angel

 Continuing the nostalgia kick...I decided to try and decipher what the heck this character's costume was while also updating it a bit. The color palette was a compromise because I couldn't fully figure out what 7 year old me was thinking when he drew the original...Well aside from the Angewomon influence.

Nostalgia: Dragon Warrior

 Went through my briefcase of old drawings from when I was a kid...I stumbled across the picture above, which I'm estimating it was drawn when I was around 7 or 8 years old and decided to redraw this character. I adjusted the colors a bit since back then I only had Crayola markers.

Badass Baby Vs Apprehended Alien

Baby vs Alien?

Had the idea to go back & revisit some old characters I used in college. The alien strapped to the cactus was from my freshman year and the crashed cheeseburger in the background was his spaceship. The baby in the foreground is an evil cannibal from my sophomore year. The desert setting is based on the Alien's project.

The alien was a 30 second animation final drawn on paper & shot on a lunchbox.

 The baby was from an assignment animated(thrown together) in 3 days. My original final project was erased when my computer died, so I had to rush to hand in an assignment or fail the class. Look at my amazing photoshop skills!
